The Horní Pramen is situated on a south-facing slope directly overlooking the centre of Špindlerův Mlýn town, and its terrace commands breathtaking views of the entire mountain resort.

The town centre is a fifteen minutes' walk away. The major ski lifts and top-class funiculars in the Svatý Petr and Medvědín resorts can be reached from the hotel by ski. The hotel arranges transfers to the ski resorts, as well as ski passes and skiing and snowboarding equipment rental on request.

The Giant Mountains' major resort is beautifully situated in the Elbe valley, at the confluence with the Dolský Stream.
Once a settlement of destitute huts serving as shelters for the miners and men processing silver and copper ores, it entered history as an autonomous hamlet on 13 July 1793. In a patent issued by Emperor Franz I, the local inhabitants were allowed to build a small church to St. Peter.
Nowadays, Špindlerův Mlýn has a permanent population of about 1,300 souls, plus numerous temporary residents employed in the tourist services.
The town is enhanced with three ski resorts: Sv. Petr, Medvědín, and Hromovka. Additional services include a night-lit bobsled track, children's skiing schools, a snowboarding school with a snow park, and other attractions.
The winter season is typically from November to April, when over 25 km of well-kept downhill tracks and 40 km of cross-country skiing tracks of all degrees of difficulty are available.
